The Fairmount City Council voted to approve the 2010 budget and a tentative millage rate of 5.88 at Monday’s meeting.
The proposed budget included $946,182 in revenues, mostly from franchise taxes. The city anticipates expenses to be $943,017. This came after some discussion about how much the council should spend on training. Council member Linda Johnson wanted to see an additional $2,500 moved from discretionary funds to training, bringing the total to $7,500. Other council members felt the money should go for Web site development. In the end, they voted to use the $2,500 for Web development for the city.
Council member Billy Lowe was not present.
