New evidence in the Store-all theft that occurred earlier this year may expose that the crime was not a solo job.

The Calhoun City Police Department (CPD) obtained two more warrants on Wednesday, Nov. 13 for the arrest of Jonathan Eugene Riffle, 18, of 1669 Moores Ferry Road, Plainville after more evidence came to light.

“Detectives have recovered additional stolen items taken from several Store-alls inside the City of Calhoun and have linked the thefts to Riffle,” said Lieutenant Detective Tony Pyle of the CPD.

Riffle has been the focus of a month long investigation after he became the primary suspect in several alleged Store-all thefts, according to a press release from the CPD.

Also arrested was Arthur Eugene Riffle, 60, of 1669 Moores Ferry Road, Plainville, who according to the press release is the father of Jonathan Riffle.

Police discovered Arthur Riffle had been an alleged participant in two of the thefts as well, according to the press release.

Both men face two counts of burglary in the second degree each, according to the press release.

Arthur and Jonathan Riffle were taken into custody on Wednesday, Nov. 13 and transported to the Gordon County Jail.

Both men are awaiting a pending bond hearing.

After complaints of Mini-Store All’s units being burglarized, the Calhoun City Police put the evidence together and made an arrest.

On Monday, October 29 Calhoun Police charged Jonathan E. Riffle, 18, of Calhoun with two counts of Burglary in connection with several storage units being entered on Red Bud Road, according to Calhoun City Police Chief Garry Moss.

The arrests came after detectives from the Calhoun Police Department discovered evidence linking Riffle to several Mini-Store All thefts.

No information is being released on the evidence linking Riffle to the crime at this time during the investigation, according to Calhoun City Police Detective Lieutenant Tony Pyle.

According to Pyle, three more victims have come forward since the original arrest, and the police have reason to believe that Riffle had involvement. At this time the police are working to link the evidence together.

After interviewing Riffle, detectives were able to recover numerous stolen items taken from the storage units. Riffle has been released from the Gordon County Jail after posting bond.
