The cause of the fire is still under investigation and the loss has yet to be determined.
The fire heavily damaged approximately 25 percent of the building; some water and smoke damage occurred in portions of the building not involved in the fire.
The Calhoun Fire Department received a call in regards to a structure fire at Brumlow Mills, located on South River St., on February 25 at 8:45 p.m.
Upon arrival Calhoun Fire Department found heavy smoke coming from the Northeast section of the building.
It was determined that all employees had safely exited the building. Firefighters entered and discovered a large fire with heavy smoke.
The Calhoun Fire Department responded with all three stations and all on duty personnel. All available off duty firefighters were called upon arrival.
The department ended up with 30 firefighters on scene for most of the night. Gordon County EMA Director Richard Cooper and assistant Director Chad Castoe also responded and assisted with extinguishing the flames.
