College Football: Former locals Nance, Lamb have big days passing in Week 5

Several former local football stars from Calhoun, Gordon Central and Sonoraville have moved on to play at the college level. Each week, the Calhoun Times will recap how those former local players did in their respective games. Listed below are the players that appeared in the box score from their teams’ games in Week 5 of the college season:

Ty Frix, Georgia, Calhoun alum

Frix handled all snapping duties on the field goal, PAT and punt teams for the Bulldogs in their 51-44 win over Tennessee on Saturday. He also recorded a tackle on a punt.

Josh White, Shorter, Calhoun alum

White was the leading tackler for the Hawks in their loss to North Alabama on Saturday. The junior linebacker had three solos and five assists for a total of eight tackles

Mason Strickland, Shorter, Calhoun alum

Strickland, a senior cornerback, had three solos and one assist for a total of four tackles in Shorter’s loss to North Alabama.

Nash Nance, Hampden-Sydney, Calhoun alum

Nance, a redshirt sophomore, was 16-of-40 passing for 198 yards and four touchdowns in the Tigers’ loss to Catholic University on Saturday. He also had a 59-yard punt in the game.

Tre Lamb, Tennessee Tech, Calhoun alum

Lamb, a senior quarterback, went 19-of-30 passing for 278 yards and two touchdowns in the Golden Eagles’ loss to Murray State on Saturday.

Adam Urbano, Tennessee Tech, Calhoun alum

Urbano rushed for 44 yards on nine carries in the Golden Eagles’ loss to Murray State on Saturday. The senior running back also had one catch for 27 yards.

Da’Rick Rogers, Tennessee Tech, Calhoun alum

Rogers, a junior and Tennessee transfer, had five catches for 58 yards on Saturday in Tennessee Tech’s loss.

Niagel Curtis, West Georgia,

Gordon Central alum

Curtis, a sophomore, had one solo tackle in the Wolves’ 24-20 loss to West Alabama on Saturday.
