ATLANTA (AP) — The Fulton County school board has voted to eliminate 51 positions, including that of two area superintendents who are retiring, because of a reorganization in the district's central office.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that employees affected by Tuesday's school board decision will have to compete against outsiders and each other to be hired by June 30 for other positions in the district.

Officials say staff members in jobs being eliminated — including a language arts teacher, a math director and chief officer of operations — have been notified. The newspaper says several of the new jobs will support local principals and students.

School board vice chairwoman Linda Bryant says affected staffers are concerned. She says most of them will keep their job although they may have a different title.

Teac2011, Proud2b is a troll. He pretends to be a liberal while posting.... less than acceptable material. Its a fairly common tactic of people who have no lives and spend all their days parked in front of a computer posting on the internet. Thank you for your service in education! Teachers rock!!

And one more thing "Proud2b", how disgusting of you to rejoice in someone losing their job, their income, and their stability, and then throw up reading the Bible in your last statement. The Bible tells us not to rejoice at others downfalls, or did you skip over that part?!?

Proud2bLiberal... Teachers belong to one of the most underpaid professions in the world. I spend at minimum 8 hours a day at work, then, have to sponser clubs and sports so that kids have "variety" in their lives (which is another 2-3 hours to my day) and then I spend time away from my family at meetings with parents, grading papers, or attending training so your little darlings get the best education possible. I'm not asking for more pay; I'm not complaining about the hours. But, for the time I put in, I don't make "too much" money.

I'd like to see you and whatever 99% it is you think you belong to spend a day in my shoes.

Oh, and you're a bit out of touch with your liberal buddies. Those guys don't usually take aim at "teachers, preachers, doctors, lawyers, store owners and managers, car salesmen, and truck drivers." The libs usually aim their contempt at less "people friendly" jobs, like big corporations and gas companies. (As a store manager in a Calhoun retail store, I once made under $10/hour.) So you see, yet again, you come off as uneducated, and still annoyingly loud about it.

@Proud2bLiberal

You are seriously warped. Raising minimum wage is the problem with this country. Everything goes UP. Only the dumb still make minimum wage at 30 . Go to school. Teachers went to school and got an education just like anyone else can. They are UNDERPAID if anything. Kids are awful. I voted for Obama back in 2008 and have regretted it ever since.

Instead of wanting hand outs do something to better yourself. I thought the 99% movement gave up and went home to take baths... close you hands because you aren't getting any handouts..work for a living... stop having bastard children just for welfare

Voting AGAINST Obama for 2012 election.
