ATLANTA (AP) — Some Georgia schools are reviewing their security plans following the shooting massacre at an elementary school in Connecticut.

The interim superintendent of Rome's city schools, Lucian Harris, says he's going to assess procedures and meet with faculty members soon to discuss what teachers can do to prepare for such a crime.

In Savannah, Chatham County Public School Police Chief Ulysses Bryant says the district goes through "what if" scenarios to prepare for the worst. He says law officers already are familiar with school layouts.

With classes resuming on Monday, Gwinnett County police are planning to provide extra presence around schools to prevent copy-cat incidents.

Georgia PTA President Donna Kosicki says every state school has a plan of action in case of an emergency, but parents also must do their part.

My heart is so broken for all in this community of Newtown Cn. I hold the families involved in this terrible situation in my prayers. Words can not be spoken that would heal a heart of anyone of these family members. I think that it is very important that our schools in Gordon County take measures to prevent this from happening here. My children have gone to schools in Gordon County and now my grandchildren are in them. I would be for putting cameras at each entrance of the buiding and making the doors to be locked from the inside. Put locks so that teachers have acess numbers to get the kids in and out of the buildings. As a parent and grandparent I would be willing to go through this precedure to keep our kids safe. Maybe the schools could keep picture ID's of who is authorized to pick chidren up. I am praying that our school board will look at what can be done to protect our children. But for the grace of God go I. This could well be our community going through this.
