The newly improved map will be completely up-to-date on the local businesses, organizations, developments and churches that make Calhoun and Gordon County thrive.
“The Chamber does a new map every two years and we decided we needed to renew it again for 2012,” explained Joni Harbin of the Gordon County Chamber of Commerce.
While explaining the reasons for a much-needed new map, Harbin added, “You’d be surprised at the changes in roads and such, as well as new buildings, parks and developments.”
A bigger, better and newly improved map is what the staff at the Chamber hope to give the citizens of Calhoun and Gordon County.
“It will be a community map and it will have the city on one side and the county on the other side,” said President of the Gordon County Chamber of Commerce Jimmy Phillips.
Harbin added, “Maps are an important directional tool for visitors and residents of Gordon County, and having the maps here are one of the many services we have here at the Chamber.”
The 2012 map will be ideal for the community and visitors alike.
“We get tons of visitors, delivery people and law enforcement officials and a number of different service people that come here for the map,” explained Harbin. “It’s free to law enforcement, but we sell it for $3 here at the Chamber.”
The Chamber will have print maps available at its Wall Street location, and will also replace the digital map on its website, gordonchamber.org.
As far as the map’s debut, the Chamber isn’t exactly sure on when it will be finished.
“We don’t have a firm date yet, but we will wrap up pre-production by the end of March,” said Harbin. “We don’t have an estimated delivery date yet; it’s subject to change.”
Phillips said that he hopes to have the new map out by mid-spring.
