Eight young men from the Gordon County area competed as part of the Georgia Spirit team of Atlanta Vocal Project.
Seven Gordon Central students/alumni and one Sonoraville student have been traveling to Atlanta weekly to prepare for this competition.
Competing in division A (19 and under age bracket) the Georgia Spirit team came in third in the over all competition.
“These young men have worked hard to be part of this team and have enjoyed working with other singers from about the state to create this team,” said Kim Watters, director of choral activities at Gordon Central. “This is the sixth year young men from my program have competed with Georgia Spirit. Jim Moore and Clay Hine of Atlanta Vocal Project do a marvelous job of preparing and inspiring these young men to keep singing. We love being part of this event each year and look forward to the many friends we meet from around the world.”
The Georgia Spirit also performed on Monday, Jan 14 in Alpharetta along with the International Quartet champions Ringmasters from Sweden and A Mighty Wind – third place quartet at Internationals.
