A Cartersville loss prevention officer was stabbed in the abdomen by a potential shoplifter on Saturday afternoon, but the woman was arrested shortly after the incident by two off-duty police officers.

According to a report from the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office:

A loss prevention officer at the Walmart on Market Street tried to stop Katrena Evans, 32, for shoplifting.

She stabbed him in the stomach with a “multi-tool” knife and then went out of the store.

She got into the car of a man she did not know but was spotted by two off-duty Acworth police officers who held her until Bartow County deputies arrived.

Evans, who told deputies she is homeless when she was booked, is charged with obstruction, shoplifting and aggravated assault.

The loss prevention officer was treated and released from Cartersville Medical Center.
