The “Little Phoenix” met with the high school students on Saturday December 8 and had cookies while planning their shopping trip.
The group then boarded four buses and went shopping at Walmart. The little ones were able to buy presents for themselves and for their families with money donated by the SHS students. There were plenty of smiles to go around.
“It was an amazing experience being able to help someone around the holiday season,” said SHS Senior Eady Beth Connally. “Seeing the look on the kid’s faces and the excitement in their eyes really warmed my heart.”
“Being able to see the children’s faces really made me feel like a better person,” said Sophomore Houston Nance. “Knowing I made a difference in his life felt amazing.” Freshmen Wimberly Burch- “The best part of the day was seeing the excitement on kid’s faces when they got the things they wanted.”
The SHS Beta Club, Key Club, the SHS band, the FCA, the SHS faculty and staff, Trinity Baptist Church, the bus drivers, and others contributed to make the event possible.
