Calhoun middle school girls basketball coach Diane Smith (fourth from left on back row), seen here with her team, won her 700th career game last Thursday when her Lady Jackets defeated the Adairsville Lady Tigers in the final game of the regular season.

Smith, who also is the Calhoun high softball coach, has been coaching for more than 25 years at Calhoun.

The Lady Jackets recently defeated Adairsville again on Wednesday to advance the BGMSAA girls finals against Sonoraville which will take place today at 12:30 p.m. at Ashworth Middle.

Smith is also close to 500 career victories in softball, with that milestone likely to come next season.
