George Seddon, Jr. crosses the finish line as the overall winner of the 2012 Run for Your Life 5K Race with a time of 20:49. Sponsored by the Gordon Hospital Foundation, the 2013 event has been set for Tuesday, April 9 at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to come run, walk or stroll. Participants can register online by visiting www.gordonhospital.com or by picking up a registration form at the hospital’s front desk.
“Each year the race gets better and better,” says Judy Jackson, director of development for Gordon Hospital. “People are coming for all over our area to participate and we hope it continues to grow and grow. This will be our third race and are excited about it once again.”
The Run for Your Life course will start and end in front of Gordon Hospital. Runners and walkers of all ages and capabilities are invited to participate. The course will go through the hospital parking lot to 911 Boulevard, right onto Curtis Parkway, and through the Derby/Normandy/Devonwood neighborhood and then back in a similar fashion.
“Now that the Harris Radiation Therapy Center is complete, we will go back to our original race course. Because of the construction, we had to alter it slightly last year, but not by much. The course should be familiar to those that have ran or walked each year” says Jackson. “We are excited about “sponsoring the race again. As a hospital, we know how important physical fitness is in keeping ourselves and our families healthy, and we want to emphasis that, but it’s also a great way to raise money for a wonderful cause, which will help all of our community for years to come. You don’t have to be a competitive runner either. You can walk and strollers are welcome too.”
