J.B. was born on October 13, 1923 in Floyd County. He was the son of the late John T. Satterfield and Daisy Sartin Satterfield. J.B. was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the European Theater where he received a Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, The Bronze Star and The Combat Infantry Badge. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #5. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Melvin Satterfield.
Survivors include: his son, Jerry Satterfield and his wife Shela of Calhoun; two daughters: Joan Kines of Rome and Janis Moses and her husband Demar of Rome; seven grandchildren and nine grandchildren also survive.
The family received friends on Saturday, January 26 from 2 – 4 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home. Entombment was conducted in the Georgia National Cemetery with Military Honors on Monday January 28.
