Mrs. Vanessa Lewis Henson, 44, of Calhoun, died Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Emory University Medical Center after several weeks declining health. Vanessa was born in Coral Gables, Florida on July 3, 1968, daughter of the late Prince W. Lewis and Naomi Lewis. She had been a teacher at Sonoraville Middle School for the past 20 years.

Vanessa is survived by her husband, DaRon Henson, to whom she was married for 21 years; a daughter, Lydia Henson and a son Noah Henson, all of Calhoun; a sister, Cheryl Bacon and her husband Victor of Powder Springs, Ga.; and a brother, Gerald Lewis and his wife Stacy of Rosepine, La. Other relatives and friends also survive.

A service to celebrate the life of Vanessa Lewis Henson was held Tuesday, January 29 at 6 p.m. from Crane Eater Community Church, 3168 Red Bud Road NE, Calhoun, and will be led by her husband DaRon. The Parker family and others had charge of the music. A private graveside service will be held on Wednesday at Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Pallbearers serving include Jeremy Keith Lewis, Neil Ellis, Evan Bacon, Calan Bacon, Paul Hammond, Eddie Jones and Stan McEntyre.

The Henson family received friends at Crane Eater Community Church Tuesday, January 29 from 4-6 p.m.
