Middle School: CMS softball defeats Ashworth 19-1

The Calhoun Middle School softball team opened the 2011 season with a dominating 19-1 victory over cross-county rival Ashworth.

The Lady Jackets jumped out early, scoring six runs in the first inning, 12 in the second and one in the third. The Lady Warriors scored their lone run in the bottom of the third.

Cassie Henderson picked up the win and Destiny Parker received the loss.

For Calhoun, Blair Robinson, Madeline Murray, and Chloe Rice led the team with two hits apiece. Ryan Brzozski, Jana Johns, Madison Green, Tori Gaddis, Ashlyn Barnes, and Sydnie Parker added one hit each.

Taylor picked up the line hit for the Lady Warriors.
