Ricky Lee Barmore, 47, of 3660 Chattanooga Road, was charged with three counts of child molestation and three counts of sexual battery against a child under 16. All the charges are felonies. Judge Cindy Morris imposed a 20-year sentence in Superior Court, ordering Barmore to serve 12 years in prison — with eight years on probation — and pay a $2,000 fine plus surcharges, perform 300 hours of community services and to abide by special conditions set for sex offenders while on probation.
Barmore, who was charged in August 2010, was found guilty during a jury trial in November. Morris ordered a pre-sentence investigation.
Assistant District Attorney Bert Poston said in November that Barmore was accused of molesting a 13-year-old female unrelated to him. District Attorney Kermit McManus said on Tuesday the girl was the daughter of a friend of Barmore.
“He was found guilty on all six counts, two counts for each of the three body parts he touched,” Poston said in November. “The trial went two full days and into a morning. The jury was out around an hour.”
Barmore was represented by the public defender’s office in November. A phone call to the office late Tuesday afternoon was not immediately returned.
