Sonoraville Lady Phoenix vs. Cartersville Lady Hurricanes
The Lady Phoenix hit the court with a mission on Wednesday evening, and they achieved their goal defeating Cartersville, 37-28.
Sonoraville got off to a slow start, but rallied with a 19 point fourth quarter to cap off the Lady Canes.
Driving the offense for the Lady Phoenix was Taryn Hickey who scored 11 points. Evie Delp netted 9 points, and Becca Cheeks contributed 8 points and led Sonoraville in rebounds. Kendall Bowman also swooshed two big 3-pointers, and Abby Connally netted 3 points.
“We didn’t play as well as we usually do in the first half,” said Sonoraville Girls Head Coach Matt Fox. “They are very coachable, and we made adjustments and came back in the fourth quarter, which is probably one of the best we’ve had all year.”
As far as the rematch in the finals with Calhoun, Fox is looking forward to the atmosphere.
“I wouldn’t want it any other way; it will be a packed gym,” said Fox. “They’re a great ball team, and Diane is a great coach; it should be a lot of fun.”
