However, for many it is all about the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Christians will gather with their families for sunrise services and morning worship all in celebration that Christ has brought.
In Fairmount, multiple churches are coming together to host the 9th annual Fairmount sunrise service, Sunday, April 8, beginning at 7 a.m.
The festivities will take place at Tate Park, which located in the heart of town, will be the perfect back drop to welcome the Easter message from Rev. Rodney Weaver.
First Baptist, Wesley Chapel Methodist and Fairmount Methodist are hosting the event, but everyone is welcome to attend.
It is also suggested that people bring a lawn chair.
Other churches begin celebration with the resurrection on Good Friday and will continue through the weekend.
Friday, April 6
Fellowship Baptist Church of Plainville will be presenting “The Seven Sayings of the Cross” on Holy Friday, April 6 at 6:45 p.m. Seven preachers will be bringing the message. Everyone is invited to attend. For more information, call 706-802-0202 or 706-625-1312.
St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church will be hosting a Good Friday preaching service from 12-1 p.m. Friday, April 6. The gospel account from Mark will be read and interpreted by four short sermons. Those in leadership rolls will be: Rev. Pete Ullmann of First Presbyterian Church, Rev. Howard Strickland of Craneater Community Church, Rev. Ann Mann of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church and Rev. Louis Tonsmeire of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church. The ecumenical service is open to anyone. Visitors are welcome, and the church is located at 224 Trammell Street.
Saturday, April 7 The Calhoun Seventh-day Adventist Church will hold its annual Easter program on Saturday, April 7, at 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., with refreshments following the second presentation.
World Harvest Church will be hosting an annual treasure hunt on Saturday, April 7 beginning at 10 a.m. The event is for children 12-year-old or younger. The church is located at 2335 Red Bud Road in Calhoun.
St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church will be hosting an Easter vigil Saturday, April 7 beginning at 8 p.m. The worship opportunity is the transition from the season of Lent to the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus. The service will include four parts: the lighting of the Paschal candle, lessons of scriptures about redemption from the Old Testament, baptisms and the first Eucharist of Easter. Visitors are welcome, and the church is located at 224 Trammell Street.
Living Water Ministries will be hosting “The Resurrection,” a live reenactment of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It will be held on April 7 at the BB&T Park in Calhoun. The festivities start at 12 p.m., and there will also be live music by One Step Forward, from Miracle Temple Church. There will be a performance from Tabernacle of Praise, and an Easter egg hunt will follow the program for ages ten and under. A drawing will be held for Easter baskets and bicycles. Everyone is welcome.
Big Spring Baptist on Dews Pond Road will be hosting an egg hunt for the children, Saturday at 11 a.m., followed by a hotdog picnic.

The Free Hope Baptist Church Choir will present the Easter cantata In The Presence Of Jehovah, directed by Mr. Curtis Cochran, on Sunday, April 8, at 11 a.m. A nursery will be provided. Big Springs Baptist Church on Dews Pond Road will be hosting a sunrise service beginning at 7 a.m. followed by a breakfast, bible study at 9:45 a.m. and morning worship at 10:45 a.m. with the Lord’s supper. Everyone is invited. There will be no evening service.
Oak Grove Baptist Church will be hosting a special service for Easter Sunday, April 8. Sunrise service will take place in the Oak Grove Cemetery on Rogers Road beginning at 7 a.m. (in the church sanctuary if it rains). Easter morning worship will be in the church sanctuary at 10:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome to join in the celebration. There will be a sunrise service at Fidel Cemetery Sunday, April 8 beginning at 7 a.m. If it rains, it will be at Evergreen Baptist Church.
