MARTINEZ, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say a 15-year-old boy drowned while rafting on Thurmond Lake near the Georgia-South Carolina border.

The Augusta Chronicle reports that the teen went under the water Sunday evening. His body was recovered around 9 p.m.

Columbia County sheriff's Capt. Steve Morris says the boy was rafting in the lake with a friend when they became separated.

The boy's name hasn't been released.
