A deputy sheriff with the Sheriff’s Community Crime Prevention Unit (CCPU) stopped the vehicle for a traffic violation on I-75. The deputy became suspicious upon speaking with the man and ordered a drug sniffing canine to the scene, according to a press release from the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office.
“I’m pleased with the results of the work of the canines, and their deputy-partners, in the past three and a half years in uncovering illegal drug distribution,” said Gordon County Sheriff Mitch Ralston. “These dogs are a valuable asset to my overall strategy in dealing with unlawful drug trafficking in our community. The CCPU has been successful in apprehending violators on our roadways, and working in concert with the Major Crimes Unit in arresting and prosecuting those who choose to import this poison into our community.”
