Dr. Jones was born in Marietta, Ga. on July 4, 1956, son of Pauline Wable Jones and the late David Bertie Jones. He was also preceded in death by a son, Andrew Michael Jones. Dr. Jones received his Doctorate in Ministry from Southeastern Seminary. He faithfully served as pastor of First Baptist Church of Princess Anne, Princess Anne, Maryland, Monticello Baptist Church, Monticello, Georgia, Garden Lakes Baptist Church, Rome, and his last pastorate was at Pleasant Hope Baptist Church, Silver Creek. Dr. Jones was currently attending First Baptist Church of Rome. In addition to being a pastor, he also worked for a period of time as a Hospice Chaplain and a Pharmaceutical Representative.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, the Melanie Leach Jones; two sons, Joshua David Jones, and his wife, Anna Victoria Jones, Raeford, N.C., and Christopher Stephens Jones, Rome; a granddaughter, Miss Margaret Anne Jones, Raeford, N.C..; his mother, Mrs. Pauline Wable Jones, Calhoun; a sister, Mrs. Willene Jones Wallis, Fayetteville; a brother, William Marvin Jones, Baton Rouge, L.A.; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 15, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Rome with Dr. Joel Snider and the Rev. Jerry Brooks officiating. Interment followed in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The family received friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home on Friday from 6 – 8 p.m. At other hours they may be contacted at the residence.
Pallbearers were Jeff Adair, Jeffrey Wallis, George Botsford, Lance Folmar, T. J. Francomano, and Matthew Francomano.
