Ms. Hays was born in Bartow County, June 20, 1940, daughter of the late Eugene and Ann Pelfrey Hays. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Adairsville and had worked at Quality Mats, Calhoun. Ms. Hays was an avid reader, loved to cook, and enjoyed watching cooking programs on television. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Tyrone Daniel Autrey, Jr.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas (Barbara) Autrey of Plainville, and Keith (Carolyn) Dobson of Ranger; a daughter, Tammy McLaughlin of Chelsea, Ala.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Doug (Kathy) Hays, and Ray (Louise) Hays, both of Rome; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Janice Johnson of Armuchee, and Shelia (Warren) Vines of Powder Springs; nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville, with Rev. Joey Ineichen officiating. Interment followed in Eastview Cemetery.
Coty McLaughlin, Blake McLaughlin, Sam Berner, Josh Broome, Cole Autrey, Trey Vines, and Rodney Coker served as pallbearers while Dewayne Hays and Doyle Cagle were honorary pallbearers.
The family received friends Tuesday evening from 7-9 p.m. at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
