PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A 16-year-old high school sophomore in Philadelphia who says she was ridiculed by her geometry teacher for wearing a Mitt Romney T-shirt is set to return to school Tuesday.

Samantha Pawlucy (pah-LOOS'-ee) hasn't been back to Charles Carroll High School since last week. That's when she and her family say she was mocked by her teacher for wearing the shirt supporting the Republican presidential candidate. She says the teacher called others in to the room to laugh at her.

Her father, Richard Pawlucy, says the family met with Mayor Michael Nutter on Sunday night to discuss a resolution. He says he, his wife and their attorney also met with the teacher and another school employee on Monday.

The teacher has apologized and the superintendent has called the ordeal a "teachable moment."
