The Dixie Group Inc. today announced it has acquired the Colormaster carpet dyeing facility in Calhoun, Ga., from Lineage PCR Inc.

Jon Faulkner, Dixie’s chief financial officer, said the 200,000-square-foot facility will be folded into Dixie’s operations. The plant employs about 60 people, he said, and it will focus on supporting Dixie’s residential side of its operations.

Faulkner declined to reveal the cost of the plant.

The Dixie Group, Inc. is currently participating in due diligence efforts to obtain a Calhoun facility to house dying production, according to a press release from The Dixie Group, Inc.

The building, located at 200 Fair Street, belonged to the Dixie Group until 2001, when it was sold to Constantine, according to Chief Financial Officer of Dixie Group, Inc. Jon Faulkner, who says it was then sold to current owner Milliken and Company, a manufacturer of specialty chemicals and floor coverings.

Recently, the building has been updated, according to Faulkner, who says the new high quality equipment and upgrades are what attracted the company to the 46 acre lot in Calhoun.

Though the company is “knee deep,” in due diligence process, currently the company is nearing completion and expect to know by the fourth quarter if the location will fit the company’s needs.

The Dixie Group is a marketer and manufacturer of carpet and rugs to higher end residential and commercial customers through Fabrica International, Masland Carpets, Dixie Home, and Masland Contract brands.
