“It was the old Conoco (convenience store). We’re putting a police precinct in the building structure. It was my understanding that City Hall offered this location to the Police Department as a police precinct and the Chief has elected to do so,” said Calhoun Police Department Lieutenant Tony Pyle.
Pyle said that the new location will help the police respond quickly to calls on the west side of town without the risk of delay due to a train on the tracks. “They needed a precinct there for the city of Calhoun. When there’s an emergency in that area of town they can respond quickly,” he said.
“All city employees will fill up at the new location. It will be open 24 hours a day.
We have no specific date for the official opening of the new precinct but we hope to have it up and running by the end of 2012.”
“Tim Duvall, Fire Inspector of the Calhoun Fire Department has overseen the closing of the Kirby pump locations and transferring everything to the new location. He’s done a great job,” Pyle said.

Anyone up for building a drive-thru doughnut and coffee shop next door? I need to see what it takes to open a Dunkin' Doughnuts.
Be fearful someone offers Calhoun Police Department a 1504 foot oil tanker.
Right, CPD will park it inside the new city school. On the south side closer to the ocean.
Lt Pyle "respond quickly to calls on the West side". Your nose is growing. Give him a cookie.
