Kenneth was born on January 16, 1948 in Gordon County. He was the son of Claud Shepherd and Martha Sue Bowman Shepherd. Kenneth formerly attended the College Street Church of God and served in the United States Army with service in Germany during the Vietnam era. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Betty Parker Shepherd.
Survivors include: two daughters: April Charles and Kerry Charles both of Rome; two brothers: James Templin and his wife Nancy of Calhoun and Phillip Shepherd and his wife Jill of Rome; three sisters: Barbara Woodring and her husband Rev. Calvin Woodring of Elkton, Maryland, Joy Harrell and her husband Ken of Calhoun, Melody Jackson and her husband Darryl of Calhoun; three grandchildren: Ronni Steele, London Tidwell and Jamison Charles all of Rome; one great-grandchild, Dalani Steele of Rome; and nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Memorial Services were conducted at 6 p.m. on Thursday, November 15 from the Chapel of Little Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Calvin Woodring officiating. Burial followed in the Crane Eater Church of God Cemetery at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 18.
