Roy was born on July 23, 1935 in Floyd County. He was the son of the late Frank Mack Reed and Mattie Ray Reed. Roy was a member of Living Water Ministry. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: one daughter, Kathy Ann Reed; one son, Dennis Darrell Reed; two brothers; two sisters; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Survivors include: his wife, Sarah P. Reed of Calhoun; three daughters: Mary Elizabeth Chappell and her husband Eugene of Adairsville, Joy Jarrett of Shannon, and Barbara Dodd and her husband Glenn of Summerville; two brothers: Buster Reed and his wife Myrtle of Calhoun and Howard Reed of Port Arthur, Texas; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28 from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend Howard Dale officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving include: Eugene Chappell, Jeremy Chappell, David Jarrett, Matthew Jarrett, Christopher Collins and David Collins.
Health Care AIDS will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family received friends from 5 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 27 at the funeral home.
