Singer/Songwriter Robby Hopkins knows country. He’s lived it! Robby was born near Spencer, Tennessee, into a family with a rich musical heritage.

At 7 p.m. on Jan. 26, Hopkins and his band bring the music to Calhoun with a performance at the Harris Arts Center.

Hopkins grew up in North Georgia listening to country greats – Keith Whitley, Vern Gosdin, Randy Travis, Alan Jackson, George Jones, and John Anderson — just to name a few. Playing guitar at age eight, and he wrote his first song at age sixteen.

The artist has been writing and performing ever since. Robby is the winner of singer-songwriter competitions, including a competition judged by Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter Don Henry and songwriter Nathan Bell.

In 2011, Robby formed a new band to play at a singer-songwriter venue in Nashville. The band ended the year being named “Best Country Act of Chattanooga” and “Best of the Best” on WDVX Knoxville’s Writers Block show. In late 2012, Robby was invited to perform at Nashville’s legendary Blue Bird Café, where he’ll play again in February 2013.

Hopkins and his band play at many large festivals, venues, events and competitions performing mostly songs written by Robby.
