UPDATE

There have been new charges added to two of the men wanted in connection with the home invasion occurred on Springdale Drive and injured two people. There has also been a fourth suspect taken into custody.

Deana Papp, 26, of Calhoun was taken into custody by detectives after it was discovered she had prior knowledge of the crime and is believed to have supplied information to the suspects about the victims in this case, according to a press release from the CPD.

According to the release, all four suspects in this case have been linked to an additional armed robbery that occurred last month in the City of Calhoun.

Marcus Harris, who was initially charged with burglary and armed robbery, has also been charged with one count of aggravated assault, one count of possession of a firearm during the crime, one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, one count of battery, one count of false imprisonment and one count of obstruction of a police officer.

Ransen Hawkins, who was charged with a misdemeanor for obstruction of police officer, has now also been charged with one count of armed robbery and one count of burglary.

Papp faces charges of party to a crime burglary and party to a crime armed robbery.

Detectives obtain supplementary warrants on Hawkins and Harris after the investigation uncovered further evidence of crimes committed by these two suspects.

The additional charges are an accrual of both incidents, according to the press release.

On Sunday Jan. 27 Calhoun Police arrested Marcus Harris, 22, and Ransen Hawkins, 27, both of Calhoun and one juvenile in connection with a home invasion burglary.

Officers were dispatched to a residence on Springdale Drive around 12:15 a.m. Sunday after a female caller requested help, saying someone had forced their way into her apartment, according to a press release from the Calhoun City Police Department.

Officers arrived and discovered two men inside the victim’s apartment; one suspect was arrested at the scene while the other fled on foot.

Detectives were called to the location and began an investigation into the break in, where they were told by the victims that two men had forced their way into the apartment, struck one victim on the head with a handgun and began threatening the victims with further violence if they did not comply with demands.

One victim was hospitalized as a result of injuries sustained during the confrontation and was taken to Gordon Hospital hospital where he was released later the same day.

The other victim was hospitalized after suffering an apparent heart attack. She was taken to Redmond Regional Hospital, where according to a spokesperson, she is in stable condition.

Both victims were in their 70’s.

Within eight hours of the initial call detectives had arrested two additional suspects, one suspect is believed to be the other man who entered the apartment and the other suspect has been charged with hindering the investigation.

According to the press release, Harris has been charged with burglary and armed robbery. Hawkins has been charged with obstruction and hindering of a police officer. The juvenile has been charged with burglary, armed robbery, party to a crime and violation of the Georgia controlled substance act for having less than an ounce of marijuana in his possession.

Authorities said no other persons were wanted in connection with this crime, and all suspects involved have been taken into custody. Other charges are expected pending the outcome of an investigation. All three suspects remained in custody as of Monday, Jan. 28.
