The Calhoun Middle J.V. Jackets defeated Adairsville last Friday to win the Barto Gordon Middle School Athletic Association J.V. Boys Region Championship. The final score was 26-16. The J.V. Jackets finished the season with an 11-4 record.

Bralin Barton led the Jackets with seven points. Brannon Spector scored six, and Gavin Gray had five.

Coach Bryan Abernathy said of the team: "I can’t tell you how proud I am of this squad. I kept five sixth-graders this year and knew early on we would hit a few bumps along the course of the season. To go from losing our first game of the season against Cass by 32 points and come back to beat the same Cass squad by three points in the semi-final round speaks volumes about the pride and character of each of these young men."

Team members pictured above are: Coach Bryan Abernathy (from left), Ned Abernathy, James Prater, Justin Winters, Jordan McDaniel, Takoda Foster, Chase Goble, Bralin Barton, Gavin Gray, Cal James, Brannon Spector and Davis Allen.
