County schools begin pre-k application process

Gordon County Schools Pre-K application process for the 2013-2014 school year begins March 1. Children must be four years old on or before September 1. Children who are five years old by September 1 may attend if they have never attended Pre-K before. Proof of residency is required to register. If proof of residency is not available, a notarized statement of residency must be signed by the applicant.

The application process is open from March 1 through March 29. Families will have four weeks of open enrollment in their school zone and will be required to provide completed copies of their paperwork at the time the application is returned. All applications are due to one of the six elementary schools no later than March 29. Applications will be drawn by lottery on April 12. Letters will be mailed to families accepted to Gordon County Schools Pre-K by the first week in May.

Applications can be picked up from one of the six elementary schools. Completed applications must be returned to one of the county elementary schools no later than March 29.

To register your child, you need the following items:
  • Proof of residency

  • Certified copy of your child’s birth certificate

  • Copy of Social Security Card for the child

  • Copy of Immunization record (form 3231)

  • Copy of Hearing, Vision, Dental Screening (form 3300)

  • Verification of Medicaid, TANF, Peach Care, Food Stamps, proof of SSI (ifapplicable)
