Mr. Nelson was born in Adairsville, Ga., July 18, 1948, son of Ruby Allen Hall and the late Rufus Andrew Nelson. He was a member of Bread of Life Christian Center and also served as a deacon. Mr. Nelson retired from Southeastern Freight after 25 years of service. He enjoyed having fun and spending time with his family and also going camping, antiquing, and watching NASCAR.
He is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Carole Nelson of Adairsville; daughter and son-in-law, Felicia and Brent Reynders of Kennesaw; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Tiffanie Nelson of Adairsville; mother, Ruby Hall of Calhoun; two granddaughters, Hope and Faith Nelson; brother and sister-in-law, Hoyt and Joan Nelson of Adairsville; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Mike and Lisa Jones and Jamie and Tara Nichols.
Funeral services were held Thursday, February 21, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Bread of Life Christian Center, White with Rev. Max Maybern and Rev. Dennis Huskins officiating. Interment followed in Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville. Pallbearers were Kenneth King, Chad West, Tim Nichelson, Timothy Gowens, Dakota Jones, and Shaun Jones. Jimmy Boyd, deacons, and associate pastors of the church served as honorary pallbearers.
The family received friends Wednesday evening from 5-9 p.m. at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
