As part of his continuing education and training in the administration of law enforcement, Chief Garry Moss, of the Calhoun Police Department, recently attended the 2013 Annual Winter Training Conference sponsored by the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police.

This year’s conference was attended by the heads of law enforcement agencies from throughout the state participating in the three-day conference.

The Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police is responsible for the delivery of training to the chiefs of Georgia’s police departments and law enforcement agencies.

The Winter Training Conference was held at the Classic Center in Athens from February 11 through February 13.

This year’s training covered a variety of topics such as: “News Media: Friend, Foe and Why Both are Important,” “Security in Our Schools,” “Update on the Georgia Open Records Act,” “Executive Decisions in Asset Forfeiture” and “Leading with Honor in Tough Times: Leadership Lessons from the Hanoi Hilton”.

Chief Moss was among more than 326 heads of law enforcement agencies attending this Conference.

Chief J. Frank Waits of the Vidalia Police Department and President of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police encouraged the members to “take the knowledge learned from this conference and apply it for the benefit of your community, governing officials and your agency.”
