Second annual BBQ, Boogie and Blues set for April 26

Georgia’s Governor Nathan Deal and the Kansas City BBQ Society have declared Calhoun’s BBQ Boogie & Blues a nationally sanctioned barbecue competition.

The event will be held from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday, April 26 and 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 27.

This year’s event includes a KCBS Professional BBQ Competition, a Backyard BBQ Competition, Amazing Race, Alzheimer’s Bicycle Ride, Baxter¦Dean Runway Show, Children’s Activities/Kids Zone, Food Vendors, Outdoor Musical Entertainment, Annual String Band Festival at the Harris Arts Center, Payne Farm’s Strawberry Dessert Competition, Little Miss Strawberry and Miss Strawberry Pageant and more.

For anyone wanting to be a food and beverage vendor (non competition) the team entry fee is $175.

For anyone wanting to be a vendor (non food) the team entry fee is $100.

The deadline for payment is April 1. There will be a $25 late fee for payment received after April 1.

If electricity is required then there will be a $25 charge. The vendor's booth size is approximately ten foot by ten foot.

The event committee or City of Calhoun will not provide chairs, tables, tents, extension cords, or signage. You must bring all supplies needed for your booth.

There are a couple of different sponsorship groups one could be apart of for the event, and each one has its own perks.

The “Hogzilla” sponsorship cost $2,500 and includes naming rights to the event “Brought to you by…,” prominent advertising in brochures, banners, publications, and local media, including company logo and name on all printed material, logo on front of tee shirts, five free tee shirts, blast email campaign, Facebook promotion, and website acknowledgement, mention chamber’s digital sign, chamber newsletter mention and Calhoun Times ad with logo and free preferred vendor booth space at event.

The ”Whole Hog” is $1,500 and includes: advertising at event, blast email campaign, Facebook promotion, and website acknowledgement, naming rights of an entertainment stage, mention on chamber’s digital sign, chamber newsletter mention, logo on back of tee-shirt, four free tee-shirts, free vendor booth space at event.

The “Half Rack” cost $1,000 and includes: advertising at event, blast email campaign, Facebook promotion, and website acknowledgement, chamber newsletter mention, logo on back of tee-shirt, three free tee-shirts and free booth Space,

The “Pitmaster” is $500 and includes: advertising at event, chamber newsletter mention, free booth space, name listed on tee shirt and two free tee shirts

The “Griller” is $250 and includes: advertising at event, name listed on tee shirt and one free tee shirt
