The Gordon County Relay for Life was cancelled Friday night after a line of heavy storms moved through Northwest Georgia.

The annual walk, sponsored by the Gordon COunty Chapter of the American Cancer Society, was called off about 8:30 p.m.

Heavy rain fell much of the day Friday, and the Northwest Georgia Experiment Station measured 1.15 inches of rain Friday.

There were reports of funnel cluds in neighboring Floyd County, but Gordon COunty only saw heavy thunderstorms.
