Reinhardt College softball player Maddie Monroe has been named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for her play from April 5-11. It marks the third time this season Monroe has earned the weekly conference honor.

Monroe, a 5-foot-7 freshman pitcher and first baseman, went 3-0 with a save and posted a 0.00 ERA as Reinhardt cruised to a 6-0 record last week.

She pitched complete-game shutouts in AAC games against the Tennessee Wesleyan College Lady Bulldogs and the Virginia Intermont College Lady Cobras, and also against the NCAA Division III Emory University Eagles.

In 23 2/3 innings of work, Monroe allowed no runs and nine hits with 22 strikeouts and just two walks.

On the season, Monroe has a 16-3 record, two saves and a 0.60 ERA in 22 appearances. Over 128 1/3 innings, she has allowed 11 earned runs and 72 hits while striking out 159 and walking just nine.

Monroe has recorded 16 complete games and 11 shutouts with opponents batting only .159 against her. She ranks among the conference and national leaders in several statistical categories.

The Lady Eagles are enjoying their best season ever at 33-8 overall, including 11-1 in the AAC. Reinhardt, which received 37 votes in the latest NAIA poll to rank 32nd nationally, hosts Bluefield College on Tuesday in a conference doubleheader.
